Summer Strawberries

We’ve picked a bumper crop of strawberries from our garden this summer.  There were lots of little ones and some huge ones too – I don’t think that I’ve ever grown any so big before!  Some of the biggest weighed over 1oz each!

I was inspired to add some more strawberry themed printables to my shop; like this birthday bunting banner…

It comes as 5 sheets, each with 3 pennants on, which can be printed and strung up to spell out ‘Happy Birthday’.

I’ve also designed these printable journal cards for scrapbooking projects…

The sheet contains 6 designs – 4 different 3x4 inch cards, a 4x6 inch card and a 4x1.6 inch card.  Printable journal cards are a new addition to my shop and I’ll be working on adding more themes soon.  As I’ve just got back into making scrapbook pages for my own album I’ll be using them for my own craft projects too (and will post photos of my layouts here)!

Another new product I’m working on is cupcake wrappers – this strawberry wrapper with a scalloped top is one of my first prototypes…

The finished printable cupcake wrappers should be appearing in my shop very soon!

What’s new in my shop? – Update on lots of new printable designs!

I have been designing so many new things recently that I thought it was time for an update, so here are some of the new things I have been adding to my shop…

There are several new sets of printable gift boxes.  Each of the box designs comes as high resolution 300dpi file on a ready to print sheet measuring 8.5 x 11 inches (A4). The completed boxes measure approximately 2.5 x 3.5 x 2 inches (6.5 x 9 x 5cm).  New designs include nautical patterns, London soldiers and buses, aqua chevrons and pink flowers…

I have also been drawing new digital stamps which can be printed and coloured in to use in craft projects like card making and scrapbooking.  The new digital stamps sets include different hand drawn frames, cupcakes, London motifs and woodland animals…

I have been adding to the Nautical themed party printables with some new birthday bunting and an invitation…

Recently, I worked on a design for a photo birth announcement with a London theme for a customer.  It was a pleasure to do, so I decided to create some more designs for photo birth announcements.  Similar to the invitations already in my shop, they come ready personalised with the customer’s choice of text and are sent as digital files for printing as many times as required.  They are also personalised with a photo which I can edit as needed, I can also alter the photo to be sepia or black and white.  The circles pattern design below is shown in ‘Olive’ colour scheme but can be made in other colour schemes too.  The woodland design with the owl is available with a choice 4 different coloured owls.

How to make Birthday Bunting…

What birthday party would be complete without a birthday banner?  This ‘Happy Birthday’ bunting is made from my printable butterflies themed bunting, below are some different ideas for putting the bunting together…

The basic bunting

The printable bunting comes as 5 sheets for you to print (I have more themes in my shop for different themed parties).  Each sheet measures 8.5x11 inches (or prints on A4) and each pennant measures 5.2 x 7.6 inches.  {If you would like more information on printables – what they are and how they work please take a look at my faq page here.}

When you have downloaded the bunting, print the 5 sheets onto white card using your printers highest quality setting.  Using card rather than paper makes the pennants sturdier and stops them from curling.  Cut the pennants out.  You’re now ready to try these different ways of hanging the bunting…

1. Peg up your pennants!

Lay out all of your pennants, equally spaced, to measure how long the banner will be.  Cut some coordinating ribbon or thread to the desired length – make sure you leave enough on the ends to tie the banner up.  Attach the pennants to the ribbon using pegs or clips.  Try clothes pegs decorated with scrapbooking paper, mini pegs or binder clips.

2.  All tied up

Punch 2 holes in each pennant – one in each top corner.  Tie pennants together with ribbon or fancy yarn – you can experiment with different textures colours and widths of ribbon.

3. Thread it up

Punch 2 holes in each pennant as in the previous example.  Thread the pennants together on one long ribbon or length of yarn.  Lay all of your pennants out first to make sure you thread them in the right order (yes, I have got words backwards before!!).  In the photo above I’ve made my own cord by crocheting yarn in chain stitch.

Summer Cake Bunting

The Great British Bake Off is back on tv again, inspiring my sister and I to bake!  In episode 1 the bakers had to make a cake with a hidden design inside so we thought we would try our own.  We decided to make a very simple cake compared to the ones on the Bake Off - ours was just three layers of sponge in graduated shades of green.


Between the layers of sponge are jam and buttercream.  The cake was then covered in ready to roll fondant icing.  We coloured a little fondant with pink food colouring to make some roses for the top.

One thing I really wanted to try out was some fancy piping with glace icing.  So I covered the cake in pale green piped swirls and leaves, it's a little time consuming but looks effective...

We finished off the cake with some mini bunting - it's really easy to make and looks fun on cakes! I used this template to cut pennants from my 'Cupcakes and Roses' themed printable scrapbooking paper...

To make the bunting you need:
paper pennants
some thread or ribbon
2 bamboo skewers

Fold the pennants in half, then lay out with the thread running along the inside fold and glue the two sides of the pennants together.  If you don't glue the thread you will be able to slide the pennants and spread them out evenly along the thread. Tie the ends of the thread to bamboo skewers and push into the cake.

London Party!

I was just going to use my new London themed illustrations for scrapbooking paper and a collage sheet but thought they'd make a nice, unusual party set too - what do you think?

Doing the photo shoot for my Rule Britannia set was fun before so I think I'll have a go at a photo shoot for this one too - I might have to hold a un-birthday party so I can try them all out! :)

Jubilee Party!

There were quite a lot of fish on the blog last week so I thought it was time for something a bit different with some inspiration for parties celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee...


I love the bright colours of these cupcakes :) They're really easy to make - I used this recipe to make strawberry flavoured cakes.  Half the cakes were iced in blue glace icing and half were iced in red.  I left the icing to set before piping white glace icing on top - that stopped the white from sinking into the colour underneath.


I finished off the cakes by making some toppers with my Rule Britannia printables.  I made the toppers by sandwiching a cocktail stick between two circles.  Some of the circles were hand cut with scissors and some were cut with a 2 inch scalloped circle punch.

I also made some bunting with my Rule Britannia scrapbooking paper - you can print this template and use it to make your own bunting.  Plain red, white and blue papers would look good too.
