A Look Back At New Designs in July

July was a busy month for me, working on new designs and products.  Unfortunately I'm not able to share all of them with you yet, but I do have plenty which you can see!

First up, here's a look at my latest set of printables from my Etsy shop - it's a fun collection inspired by the Wheels on the Bus song (yes, I did end up with the song stuck in my head while making these!). Designs from this set were initially created after a customer request and they are a spin off from my London Calling range, which features a red London bus. So far I have an invitation, birthday bunting banner, name place cards, cupcake toppers and party hats - more items will be added soon. A scaled down version of one of the hats is being modelled by one of my guinea pigs in the image below - the full size ones are 6 inches tall.

I have also added many new designs to my Spoonflower shop, which are available on fabric, wallpaper and gift wrap.  Some of the new designs are different colour ways or scales of existing designs and some are completely new.  My personal favourites are the 'Scattered Feathers and Arrows' and 'Seahorses in Teal' designs.

'Patchwork Bees Coordinates' is another new one - this has 4 coordinating designs on 1 yard of fabric; patchwork bees, floral, spotty and chevron patterns.  Coordinates designs are great if you're making something like a quilt and want several different designs in one project!  If you purchase a smaller piece of this design (a test swatch or fat quarter) you will receive just the floral pattern from the 4 coordinates.

Finally, here is a look at some of the new designs and products I have been adding to my Society6 shop. The colourful butterflies design in now available on a wide range of products like tote bags, phone cases, clothing and home ware. My seahorses design is also new - I love this one as a beach towel! I added some new products to existing designs too - you'll now find horses and rabbits on mugs and budgies on wall clocks!
Until 7th August you can get FREE Worldwide Shipping on EVERYTHING + 10% off art prints, framed prints and clocks via this link:

New Printables for April - Safari Animals, thank you cards and more!

My Etsy shop, hfcSupplies, has been filling out nicely with new printable designs this month - I've been filling in gaps in some of my existing themes and have lots of ideas for new ranges I hope to introduce soon!
I've been making up some samples too, like this Safari Animal themed box.  The printable templates for this design also include a cupcake holder insert - so it's perfect for cupcakes, but can also be used as a favor box for parties, or for giving little gifts.  See full details for this box on Etsy here.

If you would like to see more samples made up from my printables, I am sharing other photos over on my Facebook and Instagram pages.  If you have made something using my printable designs don't forget to let me know about any photos you share - I would love to see what you make!

Other printable designs newly listed in my Etsy shop include these thank you cards, which are also part of my Safari Animals range...

December free printable calendar – Penguins!

I was just starting to write this post when the song from the John Lewis Christmas advert started playing on the radio – strange coincidence since I was going to mention their ad!  I like the narratives to the John Lewis tv ads – ads you actually want to watch, and they usually make me cry too.  Monty the Penguin is star of the advert – I’m sure penguins are going to be very popular this year!
I have joined in and drawn some penguins of my own.  I started off by designing some new Penguin themed party printables; like these cupcake toppers and invitation

Then decided to include a couple of Adelie penguins on this month’s free printable calendar too:

You can download the PDF here and you can view and print the calendar with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The calendar is A4 in size, but you can scale it to fit different sized paper if you prefer.  You can print onto any type of paper you like, for best results I recommend using your printer's highest quality setting and a good quality paper.

Please note this calendar is for personal use only!  You can print it as many times as you like for your own use but you may not redistribute it in any form (digitally or printed).  You may not modify the calendar or claim it as your own.  If you would like to share the calendar on your blog, Pinterest, facebook etc please include a link back to this page (not the download link).  Thank you!  I hope you enjoy using it :)

Jubilee Party!

There were quite a lot of fish on the blog last week so I thought it was time for something a bit different with some inspiration for parties celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee...

I love the bright colours of these cupcakes :) They're really easy to make - I used this recipe to make strawberry flavoured cakes.  Half the cakes were iced in blue glace icing and half were iced in red.  I left the icing to set before piping white glace icing on top - that stopped the white from sinking into the colour underneath.

I finished off the cakes by making some toppers with my Rule Britannia printables.  I made the toppers by sandwiching a cocktail stick between two circles.  Some of the circles were hand cut with scissors and some were cut with a 2 inch scalloped circle punch.
I also made some bunting with my Rule Britannia scrapbooking paper - you can print this template and use it to make your own bunting.  Plain red, white and blue papers would look good too.

Some royal facts...
  • The Queen is the second longest serving monarch - only Victoria has reigned for longer at 63 years.
  • There have been 12 Prime Ministers over the Queen's reign.
  • The Queen has owned more than 30 corgis during her reign - she currently has 3; Monty, Willow and Holly.
  • In an average year the Queen will host more than 50,000 people at banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace.
