aug23 picnic in the meadow
The inspiration item for this treasury challenge is a pretty vintage tea party set from Second Home
I picked a theme of ‘Picnic in the Meadow’ for this treasury and found some lovely items from Etsy sellers – many of the items I featured are from UK based sellers too.

This is a British Sellers on Etsy Challenge entry! Anyone can play! Please go to www.etsy.com/teams/6966/british-sellers-on-etsy/discuss/10761821/ to find out more.

Sweet Strawberry treasury

I love this Sweet Strawberry treasury by LeJam on Etsy!  It reminds me of summer days and picking fresh strawberries from my garden :)
There's a great range of strawberry inspired items from art to chocolate covered strawberry earrings and from soap to an unusual strawberry themed bolero (my strawberry printable gift box has been included too!).

The Doctor's Wife

Have you seen the latest series of Dr Who?  It's had some of my favourite episodes, including 'The Doctor's Wife' written by Neil Gaiman.  (there are loads of lines I loved from this episode - like 'Biting's like kissing, only there's a winner'!)I was inspired to create a treasury based on this episode using items on Etsy, to non-dr who fans the selection of items probably seems a bit random but they are all related to the episode...
If you want to know why I picked these items here's an explanation...
1. Hello - the word Idris is looking for to say to the Doctor
2. Idris' dress
3. the Tardis becomes human in Idris's body
4. 'Bow ties are cool!' in the words of the Doctor
5 + 6. They land on an asteroid which the Doctor says is like a bubble universe (well, sort of)
7. The Doctor receives a communication cube
8. + 13. The Doctor likes fish fingers and custard - Idris asks 'Do fish have fingers?'
9-12. Crimson, Eleven, Delight, Petrichor - the psychic message to open the door
14. wire coat hanger on the tardis console the Doctor and Idris build
15. 'The only water in the forest is the river'
16. The bedrooms get deleted in the Tardis, Amy and Rory ask if this time they can lose the bunk bed.  The Doctor replies 'Bunk beds are cool! They've got a ladder!'

Etsy Treasuries (and front page!)

I'm always so happy when someone has liked one of my items enough to include it in their treasury and Saturday was even more exciting as my buttons were on the UK front page of Etsy! :D  I love the bright blues/ greens and yellows in this treasury. (The treasury above was on the front page)

Treasuries are a fun way to stumble across new items from other people too :)
Here are a couple of other treasuries which also include my items... Bold bright reds...
and a lion themed collection (these are so cute!)...

This treasury on Etsy has a London/ Royal Wedding theme - created by moonmommas you can see it in full here, (it includes my Rule Britannia collage sheet).

Bright As A Button...

I love buttons, it's amazing how many different types of buttons there are!  Amongst all the pretty buttons in my collection there are a lot of plain dark ones though.  But they don't need to stay that way...
I've tried using a variety of different paints to brighten up the buttons.  The ones above were painted with acrylic artist paints and the metallic blue/green is a tester pot from the diy shop.  I also tried a rub on transfer for the star - don't suppose it would last on clothes in the wash but should be ok on something like a card/ scrapbook etc.
The buttons below were painted with nail varnish (which comes out really nicely - especially the glittery ones!), acrylics, and tester paints for things like household wall paint.  You could experiment with allsorts of paints/ pens etc!
I thought I would have a look at some of the things other people have used buttons for, so created this treasury on Etsy featuring British sellers and items they have made using buttons from jewellery to purses...

Creations Christmas Craft Fayre and an Etsy Treasury

Only 2 days to go until the Creations Christmas Craft Fayre! I'm feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves as I've never organised an event before. There's still quite a bit of last minute things to do but hopefully all the hard work will pay off - we'll just have to wait and see what happens on the day! If you want to find out more take a look at the blog for the fayre and if you're in the West Bergholt, Colchester area on Saturday please do come along and see all the great handmade items on offer!
On a different note... I started making a treasury on Etsy ages ago with an Autumn Woodland theme and I thought it was time I finished it before Winter gets here!

You can see the treausury in full here

Treasury feature: Balloon

My Solo Dirigible Balloon print has been featured in a treasury on Etsy :) The treasury was made by Skyejuice - she makes her treasuries around a word chosen from suggestions made on her blog. I think it's a great idea for coming up with new themes! This treasury's word is 'balloon' - I love the vintage feel to this treasury too. You can see it in full here.
