Free Printable Colouring Page - Zoo Animals

It's a new year but we are back in lockdown again! To give you and your little ones something to do while staying home I will be posting more free printable colouring pages and sharing other creative ideas over the next few weeks.

Spoonflower Contest - Interspecies Animal Friendships

This week's Spoonflower contest is 'Interspecies Animal Friendships'; a theme which could have so many combinations of animals!  I decided to create a design focused on cats and birds, just because I like cats and birds really. :)  You can see below some of my work in progress, where I started with pencil drawings in my sketchbook, which became pen line drawings.  These were then turned into vector art and I finished the design digitally.  I wanted to experiment with flatter colour this time as well as changing the colours of my line drawings.

PS. Thank you if you voted for my Year of the Monkey design a couple of weeks ago - it came 43rd out of 252 entries with 141 votes.  I received a test swatch of it last week on Spoonflower's new Cotton Spandex Jersey, which means you can now buy my Year of the Monkey design on fabric, gift wrap and wallpaper.  I was impressed with the new Cotton Spandex Jersey fabric too.  It's a lovely soft and stretchy fabric, I think it would be great for making t-shirts and comfy clothing!

Spoonflower Fabric of the Week Contest - Farming

It’s been a while since I entered one of Spoonflower’s weekly design contests (almost exactly a year since the Citrus one!)  Sometimes the theme doesn’t immediately  inspire me but next week’s ‘Sewing Notions’ one caught my eye.  I decided to try the Farming one too and really enjoyed drawing lots of different farm animals (along with the tractor and ears of wheat) to create this repeat pattern…

I am going to try and enter the weekly contests more often, to make me draw new things and be inspired to try out different ideas :)

Redwing

I spotted these Redwing birds in the garden yesterday - they usually only come when it snows.  We haven’t had any snow yet – maybe it will snow later today?!

Rabbits, Goats and more!

Last Saturday I went to the Tendring Hundred Show with my sister.  It's the second time we've visited the show and it was another great day out!  Last year I think the show was on one of the hottest days of the year, this time wasn't so hot - much better for the animals (and me too!).
We enjoyed looking round all the stands (food, craft, shopping etc) and especially loved seeing all the animals - goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pidgeons, sheep, chickens and more in all shapes and sizes.  I wish the baby rabbits had found their way into my pocket to come home!! :)

I have been taking new photos of my postcards to list in my Etsy shop, I think they look nice hung up on a line with my pegs decorated with scrapbooking paper :)
