Scrapbook layout inspiration - Basil my Guinea Pig

I have had a scrapbook album for many years now but have only made a few pages to go in it.  I recently came across Jot Magazine via Pinterest – it’s a new free online magazine on paper crafting and scrapbooking, and it inspired me to get my scrapbook out again!
My album is A3, a bit of an unusual shape with A3, A4 and B4 sized sleeves.  I think if I was to buy an album again I would use a more standard 12 inch or 8 inch square one, but I need to finish this one before I start thinking of doing another!
I made this page on my guinea pig, called Basil – I have so many cute photos of him and wanted to create a memory page of all the things he does :)

These are the materials I used (several of them are available from my craft supplies shop):

I used the round corner punch on the three main photos before mounting them on cream card.  The letters for Basil’s name were all cut by hand.

2013July22 Basil scrapbook page layout 3Before I glued anything down I carefully laid everything out to see how it would look.  I drew a faint pencil line for where I wanted the baker’s twine to be, which I then went over with PVA glue to stick the twine down.

2013July22 Basil scrapbook page layout 4I love these tiny spotty buttons!  They’re the perfect size for putting in the centre of a punched paper daisy.

I really enjoyed doing this page and won’t be leaving it so long before doing another.  I think the hardest part for me is trying to decide exactly what to do – there are so many choices!  Do you do scrapbooking?  If you’ve blogged about your own layouts I would love to see them – please leave a link in the comments below! :)

Sail away...

SP033 Nautical etsy 1 printable scrapbooking papers boatsNautical things seem to be very popular at the moment so I’m hoping I’ve picked a good theme for my latest collection of designs!  So far I have made a set of printable scrapbooking papers, cupcake toppers and some digital stamps – I’m still working on other designs so there will be more to come!
The boats, anchors and other illustrations in the paper set were drawn in pencil and watercolours before I scanned them and finished the patterns digitally.

New Paper Crafting Kits

I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog recently, the reason is I have been working on some exciting new products and I’m finally able to show you what I have been doing for the last couple of weeks!  I am expanding the craft supplies section of my shop and combining my designs for scrapbooking papers with some gorgeous new supplies like ribbons, bakers twine and buttons.
There are 3 new collections of kits; ‘London Calling’, ‘Cupcakes and Roses’ and ‘Steampunk’.  Each theme will have a card making kit and embellishment pack.  I will also be selling separate sets of things like baker’s twine.  If these prove popular I will be adding more themes and colours too.

Colourful patterns

I've been enjoying playing with shapes and colours to make new patterns for sets of printable scrapbooking papers.  Looking for inspiration I'm starting to see patterns everywhere - I've even found myself staring at the wallpaper on tv shows!
Following on from my original sets based on spirograph patterns (Myrtle and Carolina) I have 4 more colourways ready for release: Rose, Saffron, Lavender and Scarlet...
Each set contains a slightly different combination of designs with spirograph patterns mixed with spots and stripes.
I used an old Spirograph set to draw some shapes which I then scanned and used to make the patterned papers.  Did you know that technically the shapes made by the spirograph are actually called hypotrochoids and epitrochoids?  There are lots of complicated equations for the shapes.  Basically hypotrochoids are drawn with the wheel inside the ring and epitrochoids are drawn with the wheel outside the ring (the shapes in my patterns are hypotrochoids).
These sets of papers are available to buy from my Etsy supplies shop: www.hfcSupplies.etsy.com
I'm happy to make custom sets too - so if you like the patterns but would like them in another colour please let me know!

Steampunk Printables

I have something new for fans of Steampunk today... a set of printable Scrapbooking papers :)
This set was inspired by my collection of cogs, old keys and vintage clock hands (it's amazing how many different ones there are!).  I designed these papers from my pen drawings layered with scanned textures.  You could use them in scrapbooking projects, cardmaking etc...  They would go really well with this set of card blanks too :)
The set is available to buy from my craft supplies shop on Etsy and from my Folksy shop.  You will receive 8 high quality 300dpi jpg files, each measuring 12x12 inches (they can be printed on A4 paper too).
I have more Steampunk printables which will be released later this week!

The set is available to buy from my craft supplies shop here.  You will receive 8 digital files; each sheet comes as a high resolution 300dpi file and measures 12 x 12 inches.

There's still more to come - the next products will be released tomorrow! :)

Strawberries

It's just like summer here at the moment - lovely weather!  The strawberries seem to like it too and are growing really well, I'm hoping for a bumper crop this year :)  Inspired by my growing fruit I designed some new printables...

They're some of my favourite paper designs so far :)  Both the scrapbooking papers and collage sheet are now available in my Etsy shop.

Cupcakes to craft with...

I am slowly building my collection of digital collage sheets in my crafting supplies shop...  Here are two new additions both on the theme of cupcakes.
The cakes start as pencil sketches which are tidied up and drawn over in pen then scanned.  Next I coloured the line drawings digitally and added the backgrounds, also drawn digitally.  I love playing around with the colours and patterns until I'm happy with the set :)
